Judas:
Book of Belial and a small health reserve

Time Book of Belial, check the end of its room bonus and understand Birthright before replacing the active item.

Understand the system

Use damage to shorten a fight while still dodging.

Strong damage starts with little health

Judas starts with one Red Heart and Book of Belial. The higher starting damage does not protect the health bar. The ordinary book activation does not grant a shield, heal, or let him pass safely through enemies like Tainted Judas's Dark Arts.

The damage bonus lasts for the room

A normal first Book of Belial activation adds a room-long damage bonus and uses a three-room base charge. A room exit ends that activation's bonus. Holding the book also helps deal-room chance, but does not guarantee a Devil or Angel Room.

Birthright changes active handling

With optional Birthright, Book of Belial can be kept beneath another active like Book of Virtues. The associated damage or special interaction depends on that active. Do not assume replacing the book without Birthright will preserve the same behavior.

Book of Belial is the starting active. Birthright is optional. Yum Heart is a hypothetical replacement find used to explain the Birthright combination, not a Judas starting heal.

What changes after this action?

These are fixed teaching examples with stated conditions. Choose an action and compare what you have before and after it.

Judas

Use a ready ordinary Book of Belial

Before

Judas; 1 Red Heart; book ready; first use in this room; no Birthright or damage modifiers

After

Belial room damage bonus active; health still 1 Red Heart; charge spent

The activation adds damage but provides no ordinary heal or invulnerability. The displayed damage depends on the build's multipliers.

Check before acting: Keep a dodge route while using the stronger attack.

Book of Belial is the starting active. Birthright is optional. Yum Heart is a hypothetical replacement find used to explain the Birthright combination, not a Judas starting heal.

Before the next action

  1. Before combat, inspect health, safe dodge space and book charge. Use the ready book where finishing enemies sooner can help you avoid another dangerous cycle.
  2. After the room ends, check the health and remaining charge again. Leave enough recovery for the next fight instead of treating the previous bonus as permanent.
  3. Before swapping actives, check whether Birthright is held. Read the new active's effect and associated interaction before planning another use.
