How to reach Mother in Repentance

The alternate path, both Knife Pieces and the Corpse entrance in one route.

Before you start

Defeat Hush three times to unlock A Secret Exit.

Route steps

Follow the route

4 steps
  1. Step 01

    Enter Downpour or Dross

    After a Basement boss, spend one key at the alternate path door. On Downpour/Dross II, touch the white fire to become a ghost, cross the mirror and take Knife Piece 1 from the mirrored Treasure Room.

  2. Step 02

    Enter Mines or Ashpit

    Spend two bombs at the alternate path door after a Caves boss. On Mines/Ashpit II, press the three yellow buttons to activate the minecart, enter the abandoned area and escape Mother's Shadow with Knife Piece 2.

  3. Step 03

    Enter Mausoleum or Gehenna

    Take the alternate door after the Depths I boss. It normally costs two hearts. Keep the assembled knife through Mausoleum/Gehenna II.

  4. Step 04

    Open the flesh door

    Defeat Mom on Mausoleum/Gehenna II, throw the assembled knife at the red flesh door, defeat the special Mom's Heart encounter inside, then descend to Corpse and defeat Mother.

Keep in mind

  • The white fire and mirror step is on the second Downpour/Dross floor.
  • The Mines/Ashpit II chase temporarily removes your items; keep moving and follow the route out.
  • Defeating Mother also unlocks the Strange Door route on later runs.
