Repentance curses

Floor curses

A hidden map, concealed health, or a question-mark item changes the decisions you can make. Recognize the icon and check what still works.

Six ordinary floor curses

Darkness, Labyrinth, Lost, Unknown, Maze and Blind can affect ordinary floors. Their effects usually end when you leave that floor.

One special challenge effect

Cursed changes doors in a forced challenge or seed setup. Its damage rules differ from an ordinary Curse Room.

Health still matters

Hidden hearts are still spent by damage and health payments. Keep track before using a Blood Donation Machine or taking a deal.

Curse recognition

Match the icon to the effect.

Which tool removes a curse?

These are ordinary-floor rules. Forced challenges and special seeds can impose their own effects.

Black CandleRemoves curses except LabyrinthPrevents ordinary curses
DagazRemoves curses except Labyrinth; adds a Soul HeartNo ongoing immunity

Labyrinth is the important exception. The XL floor has already been generated, so Black Candle and Dagaz cannot split it back into two floors.

Why is Curse of the Giant in the datamine?
Curse of the Giant in-game appearance

A definition and icon exist in the game files, but this curse is not naturally obtainable and its room-merging behavior is incomplete. It is excluded from the ordinary curse list.
