In-game pickup line
“Fate chosen”
Mechanics
What The Polaroid does
- Taking damage while at half a red heart or with no red hearts grants a brief shield.
- Holding it lets the chest after Isaac in the Cathedral lead to the Chest; it can also open the Strange Door in Depths II.
Achievement #57
How to unlock it
Defeat Isaac five times.
Once unlocked, Mom drops The Polaroid after her fight. If The Negative is also unlocked, you choose one of the two.
Unlocking an item and finding it during a run are separate steps.

Practical note
Choose it after Mom when you want the Cathedral and Chest route, or need access to the Ascent door.
