Repentance · Two separate builds

Tainted Lazarus:
Flip and two inventories

Keep two health bars and inventories useful, prepare Flip charges and protect the hidden pedestal counterpart.

Understand the system

Build both forms before the next clear.

Two forms, two inventories

Living and dead forms have separate health, stats and ordinary inventories. Some tagged item effects are shared; a stat bonus is not automatically shared just because another part of its effect is.

Room clears change the active form

Clears, including eligible waves, switch forms. Using charged Flip also changes form. In Repentance, Flip uses six room charges; the later Repentance+ four-charge change is outside this guide.

Only Flip reveals the counterpart

An eligible pedestal has a ghostly counterpart. Using Flip switches real and ghostly items. Automatically changing forms or returning as the other form does not do that. Later-spawned boss drops do not receive this pair.

Original item and pickup art identifies the linked reference entries. These icons are not screenshots of a clot, wisp, bag contents or poop queue.

Tainted Lazarus

Clear a room while the living form is active

Before

Living form active; two separate inventories

After

Dead form active; inventories still separate

The automatic form switch does not flip item pedestals.

Check before acting: Prepare the build that will fight the next room, not just the build currently on screen.

This reference does not read your save, calculate a crafting recipe or simulate an arbitrary inventory, health bar, queue or combat state.

Before the next action

  1. Check which form will be active after the next clear.
  2. Enter an eligible item room with Flip charged when you want both sides.
  3. After taking the real item, use Flip and take the counterpart before leaving; an empty pedestal loses its ghost on exit.
