Repentance · Room shield and reroll risk

The Lost:
Unlocked Mantle and Eternal D6

Check the Lost's Mantle unlock, retreat after its shield breaks and weigh Eternal D6 against losing a pedestal.

Understand the system

Separate a room shield from a health bar.

The Mantle requires an unlock

The Lost has no ordinary health and starts with Eternal D6. Donating 879 coins to the Greed Donation Machine grants his inherent starting Holy Mantle effect. Before that unlock, do not assume a shield is present.

A shield can reset on room entry

With the inherent Mantle active, one ordinary blockable hit spends the room shield. Entering another room renews the Mantle shield. Within a fight, a broken shield is not a renewable health bar or a guarantee that you can leave.

Eternal D6 risks the pedestal

Eternal D6 changes room pedestals and can delete them instead of providing replacements. Taking a useful item now may be better than risking its loss. The shield unlock is inherent and is not itself a collectible to reroll.

Holy Mantle art refers to the inherent effect after its permanent unlock. Eternal D6 is the Repentance starting active. The Lost is not assumed to have the Mantle unlock in every example.

Practice the decision

What changes after this action?

These are fixed teaching examples with stated conditions. Choose an action and compare what you have before and after it.

The Lost

Take a hit with the inherent shield active

Before

Starting Mantle unlocked; shield active; ordinary blockable hit; no other shields

After

Hit blocked; room Mantle shield spent

The shield takes this hit. Remaining in the same fight with it spent leaves the Lost exposed.

Check before acting: Keep moving instead of treating the shield as continuous invulnerability.

Holy Mantle art refers to the inherent effect after its permanent unlock. Eternal D6 is the Repentance starting active. The Lost is not assumed to have the Mantle unlock in every example.

Before the next action

  1. Check the actual shield state and permanent unlock before taking a risk. Flight and spectral tears help positioning but do not provide health.
  2. After a shield break, create distance and use a safe exit when available. A locked boss room may require finishing the fight without another hit.
  3. Before using Eternal D6, read every relevant pedestal in the room. Accept the deletion risk instead of treating the use as a guaranteed improvement.
