Tainted Magdalene:
Leaking health and lethal hugs

Manage leaking health, collect brief healing drops and distinguish boosted Yum Heart healing from ordinary heart pickups.

Understand the system

Treat the extra health as a resource.

Extra health can leak away

Without Birthright, the protected portion is two Red Hearts. Excess eligible health drains over time. Soul Hearts are not a permanent substitute: with no red health, they can leak down to half a heart.

Hugs create a recovery opportunity

Contact with an enemy performs her close-range attack. A kill from this attack produces a short-lived Half Heart. Contact can still cost health, so an approach needs both a safe opening and a route to the drop.

Healing sources are different

Yum Heart restores up to two Red Hearts for Tainted Magdalene, limited by empty red health. Ordinary heart pickups are not doubled. Birthright adds one protected red-heart container.

Yum Heart is her starting pocket active. Birthright is optional. The Half Heart image is a pickup reference, not a guaranteed drop from every ordinary tear kill.

Practice the decision

What changes after this action?

These are fixed teaching examples with stated conditions. Choose an action and compare what you have before and after it.

Tainted Magdalene

Use charged Yum Heart

Before

2 of 6 Red Hearts filled; ordinary healing; no leak tick during this action

After

4 of 6 Red Hearts filled; Yum Heart charge spent

The active restores two red hearts because there is enough empty capacity. The extra filled health can still leak afterward.

Check before acting: Check empty red health and the next safe recharge opportunity.

Yum Heart is her starting pocket active. Birthright is optional. The Half Heart image is a pickup reference, not a guaranteed drop from every ordinary tear kill.

This reference does not read your save, calculate a crafting recipe or simulate an arbitrary inventory, health bar, queue or combat state.

Before the next action

  1. Before closing the gap, check your health and where enemy shots will be when you reach the target. Avoid entering several contact threats at once.
  2. When a healing drop appears, choose a reachable one rather than chasing it through another attack. Expiring drops make a long detour unreliable.
  3. Use ready Yum Heart when you have room for its recovery. Recheck the protected portion before pausing to inspect rewards.
