Tainted Keeper:
Coin healing and item prices

Balance coin healing, disappearing enemy drops and priced item choices without treating every penny as spendable money.

Understand the system

Separate money for health from money to spend.

Coin health is a separate count

Tainted Keeper normally has two Coin Heart slots. A Penny can restore a missing Coin Heart, but that healing Penny does not also increase the money counter. At full health an ordinary Penny adds money instead.

Enemy money can expire

Many defeated enemies leave brief coin drops. These are recovery and income opportunities, not permanent room rewards. Birthright helps attract nearby enemy-dropped coins; it does not remove every risk on the way.

Check the price on the pedestal

Many normally free items, including ordinary Treasure and Boss Room items, have coin prices. Some quest items and fixed drops are exceptions. Read the displayed price instead of assuming every pedestal costs the same.

The Penny icon is an ordinary coin pickup. Birthright is an optional coin-attraction reference, not a starting item. Examples assume ordinary Pennies and no coin-modifying effects.

Tainted Keeper

Collect a Penny with missing health

Before

1 of 2 Coin Hearts filled; 5 coins; ordinary Penny on the ground

After

2 of 2 Coin Hearts filled; still 5 coins

The Penny restores the missing Coin Heart. That healing pickup does not also add a coin to the money counter.

Check before acting: Check health before counting a drop toward a purchase.

The Penny icon is an ordinary coin pickup. Birthright is an optional coin-attraction reference, not a starting item. Examples assume ordinary Pennies and no coin-modifying effects.

This reference does not read your save, calculate a crafting recipe or simulate an arbitrary inventory, health bar, queue or combat state.

Before the next action

  1. Before taking a risky route to money, check whether you need healing or spending power. A coin that keeps you alive may not bring a purchase closer.
  2. Collect reachable enemy coins promptly while keeping a path away from incoming shots. Do not count an expired drop as future income.
  3. At a pedestal, read its actual price and compare the item with other spending needs. Keep a safe healing opportunity in mind before entering the next fight.
