What Dad's Note does
- Taking Dad's Note in the special Mausoleum or Gehenna II room begins the Ascent.
- Trinkets left earlier in Treasure or Boss Rooms become Cracked Keys on the return trip.

Before committing to the Ascent, leave a spare trinket in a suitable room if you want a Cracked Key later.
