Quick answer

The Fence is one of the core base-building structures in DayZ. It lets players create walls, protect storage, control entrances, and build secure compounds. A Fence can be upgraded with wood or metal paneling, fitted with Barbed Wire or a Camo Net, and modified into a Gate for controlled access.

Dismantle or destroy parts

Certain tools can dismantle or destroy Fence parts. Dismantling may return resources, while destruction usually does not.

  1. Use the correct tool on the correct Fence part.
  2. Aim carefully because tools can show multiple actions depending on the part targeted.
  3. Avoid dismantling base parts by mistake if items are stored inside or nearby.
