Nails
Nails are an uncommon construction material in DayZ used for crafting and base building. A Nail Box contains 70 Nails, loose Nails stack up to 99, and they are used for Wooden Crates, Nailed Bats, Fences, Gates, Watchtowers, and other wooden construction.

How to use this item
Unpack a Nail Box
Open a Nail Box to receive its fixed supply of 70 loose Nails.
- Find a Nail Box.
- Place it in your hands or select it in your inventory.
- Use the unpack action.
- Collect the 70 loose Nails.
- Combine loose stacks when you need to organize them.
Craft a Wooden Crate
Combine 8 Planks with 16 Nails to craft a 50-slot Wooden Crate.
- Collect 8 Planks.
- Collect at least 16 Nails.
- Combine the Planks and Nails.
- Select the Wooden Crate crafting action.
- Place or bury the finished crate for storage.
Craft a Nailed Bat
Combine a Baseball Bat with 12 Nails to create a more dangerous Nailed Bat.
- Find a Baseball Bat.
- Collect at least 12 Nails.
- Combine the Nails with the Baseball Bat.
- Craft the Nailed Bat.
Use Nails for base building
Attach Nails and the required wood materials to a compatible structure, then build the selected stage with a construction tool.
- Build the required structure frame.
- Attach Planks or other required materials.
- Attach enough Nails for the selected construction stage.
- Equip a Hammer or Hatchet.
- Build the selected wall, floor, roof, stair, or platform stage.
Recover Nails by dismantling
Use a Crowbar or Hatchet from the inside of compatible structures to dismantle wooden sections and recover materials.
- Move to the dismantling side of the structure.
- Equip a Crowbar or Hatchet.
- Target a compatible wooden construction section.
- Use the dismantle action.
- Collect any recovered Nails and other materials.

- Search civilian loot locations.
- Search camping, work, farm, and forester loot locations.
- Check sheds, barns, workshops, garages, warehouses, cabins, and construction areas.
- Unpack Nail Boxes to receive 70 loose Nails.
- Recover Nails by dismantling compatible wooden structures.
- Loot player bases, stashes, vehicles, or survivors carrying construction supplies.
