Palworld bosses, raid order, counters, and rewards

Learn the difference between Alpha, Tower, Raid, Ultra, and crossover bosses, then build the right roster for every normal Raid Boss from Bellanoir to Hartalis.

Normal raid ladder

Level 35 to Level 70

Raid levels are not recommendations. Bellanoir may be Level 35, but a weak Level 35 roster can still be removed quickly.

Know the encounter

Palworld has several different kinds of bosses

The preparation, capture rules, and rewards change depending on whether the target is an Alpha, Tower duo, summoned raid, or Level 80 variant.

Alpha and Field Bosses

Fixed overworld or sealed-realm encounters. Most can be weakened and captured, making them an efficient way to obtain strong Pals before ordinary spawns become convenient.

Capture rule

Usually catchable

Main value

Pal capture, materials, bounty progress, schematics

Tower Bosses

Timed story encounters against a faction leader and partner Pal. Version 1.0 rebuilt the towers, shortened the timer, and added new late-game fights.

Capture rule

Not normally catchable

Main value

Story progress, Ancient Technology Points, expedition unlocks

Raid Bosses

Summoned battles that let an entire Palbox roster fight beside you. The boss itself cannot be caught, but most normal raids reward an egg containing its regular Pal form.

Capture rule

Boss cannot be captured directly

Main value

Boss eggs, cores, Skill Fruits, handbooks, Ultra slabs

Ultra and Master Raids

Level 80 versions built for optimized rosters, strong gear, high investment, and players who already understand the normal encounter mechanics.

Capture rule

Endgame challenge

Main value

Improved raid rewards and high-difficulty clears

Recommended approach

Start with Bellanoir, but do not rush the level number

Bellanoir is the cleanest introduction to slabs, raid areas, full Palbox deployment, and boss egg rewards.

Bellanoir

Level 35 · Dragon

1

Aim for a combat-ready roster around Level 40 rather than using weak Level 20 Dragons.

2

Bring more usable bodies than the base limit so you have replacements.

3

Use the dedicated raid area instead of risking your production base.

Normal raid order

Every Palworld 1.0 normal Raid Boss

Boss level is the encounter level. The comfortable attempt range assumes ordinary settings, usable gear, and a roster that can survive long enough to contribute.

Levels alone do not clear raids. Bellanoir Libero, Moon Lord, and Hartalis can punish a stronger roster that ignores their mechanics.

Summoning materials

How to get slabs and summon more raids

Expeditions become the repeatable backbone of raid farming. Dungeons remain useful during progression, while Moon Lord follows a separate Terraria route.

Best repeatable method

Expeditions

Run the highest relevant Expedition and use automatic Pal selection to push reward strength toward 1,000%. Higher destinations provide later raid fragments.

Best while progressing

Dungeon chests

Open end chests in regions appropriate to the raid tier. This combines fragment farming with schematics, accessories, materials, and experience.

Harder variant access

Normal raid clears

Several normal raids reward the summoning item for their Ultra version. Learn the normal mechanics before consuming that harder attempt.

Moon Lord only

Sealed Realm of Terraria

The Celestial Sigil follows its own route. Obtain the schematic and crafting materials from the Terraria dungeon instead of ordinary slab fragments.

Simple loop

STEP 1

Run Expeditions

Use the highest destination that rewards the fragments you need.

STEP 2

Craft the slab

The recipe unlocks after the relevant fragments are obtained.

STEP 3

Prepare the Raid Area

Deploy the roster, temporary storage, defenses, and food.

STEP 4

Clear and repeat

Hatch the egg, collect the rewards, and save harder summons.

Before summoning

Six preparation rules that matter more than a tier list

A raid roster succeeds when it survives, keeps attacking, and can be replaced. Correct elements help, but they do not fix poor levels, weak gear, or ignored mechanics.

Use the Raid Area

Do not test a new boss inside the base that holds your farms, storage, breeding, and production. The dedicated battlefield protects your actual infrastructure.

Level before perfection

Level difference heavily affects survival and damage. An on-level counter is useful, but a severely underleveled counter often disappears immediately.

Bring replacement waves

Prepare more combat Pals than the active base limit. Swap incapacitated Pals through the Palbox when the encounter allows it.

Match player damage

Use an elemental conversion mount, current weapons, enough ammunition, attack food, and accessories that fit the raid instead of relying only on base Pals.

Keep the Palbox reachable

Place the Palbox where the boss cannot constantly body-block it. You need safe access for roster swaps and the return trip after the clear.

Know the fail mechanic

Later raids include phase swaps, barriers, weak points, reinforcements, and lethal final attacks. Raw damage cannot replace every required mechanic.

Player damage shell

Four support Pals plus one conversion mount

A simple player-focused party uses multiple Gobfins for stacking Attack and a mount that changes player damage to the boss's weakness. This keeps most of the party consistent between raids.

Encounter

Comfortable level: 40+

Element: Dark

Slab: Bellanoir's Slab

Source: Early raid fragments from dungeons and expeditions

Main mechanic

A straightforward damage and survivability check without a major elemental phase swap.

Strategy

Deploy a full roster of adequately leveled Dragon Pals.
Ride Chillet to convert player damage to Dragon when using a player-focused build.
Use reserve Pals instead of relying on underleveled perfect-element counters.

Level 80 variants

Ultra and Master raids are separate endgame projects

Do not treat the harder summoning items as ordinary farming slabs. These encounters assume stronger damage reduction, higher boss output, optimized Pals, and full replacement waves.

Bellanoir Libero (Ultra)

Lv 80

Extreme Dark raid with far higher damage reduction and damage output.

Blazamut Ryu (Ultra)

Lv 80

Requires a more durable Ice plan and strong replacement waves.

Xenolord (Ultra)

Lv 80

A severe Ice-team and equipment check with dangerous reinforcements.

Hartalis (Ultra)

Lv 80

The normal barrier and final-nuke mechanics remain mandatory under much higher pressure.

Moon Lord (Master)

Lv 80

A precision raid with tighter survival and damage requirements.

Condense and use Souls

Level alone stops being enough. Invest in Attack, Defense, Partner Skills, and survivability.

Prepare multiple waves

A full second roster is safer than expecting one optimized wave to survive the entire timer.

Use world settings deliberately

Higher Pal limits or adjusted damage can make the content accessible without pretending it is the default balance.

Story progression

Catchable bosses

Use Alpha bosses as progression shortcuts

Alpha encounters are not only trophies. They provide early access to useful combat Pals, workers, drops, and breeding parents when ordinary acquisition would take longer.

Capture approach

Bring the right Sphere tier

Do not depend on a tiny capture chance when the Alpha can delete the party during repeated throws.

Use status effects

Burn, Poison, Freeze, and Electricity create safer capture windows and reduce the need for reckless final hits.

Stop attacking in time

Use the Ring of Mercy or command Pals to stop before an explosive skill removes the target.

Farm useful repeats

Repeated Alpha captures provide better breeding parents, extra drops, and chances at stronger traits.

Why raids matter

Raid rewards remain useful far beyond the first clear

Boss eggs are the headline reward, but Cores, Skill Fruits, handbooks, Stat Fruits, and harder summoning items give raids lasting progression value.

Harder summons

Ultra SlabsCelestial Sigil (Master)Boss-specific summoning materials

Save harder summons until the normal fight is repeatable and the roster is prepared.

Avoid wasted slabs

Common boss and raid mistakes

Most failed attempts are caused by preparation or mechanic errors, not by choosing a Pal ranked one tier too low.

Summoning a new Raid Boss inside the main production base.

Using underleveled counters only because their element is correct.

Entering without enough ammunition, food, repair materials, or replacement Pals.

Ignoring Bellanoir Libero's late elemental change.

Orbiting Moon Lord and causing Pal attacks to miss its eyes.

Letting Blazamut Ryu face the Pal army during frontal attacks.

Ignoring Xenolord's reinforcements until the arena becomes crowded.

Failing to hide behind a rock during Hartalis's final attack.

Spending an Ultra slab before learning the normal encounter.

Final recommendation

Clear consistently before you chase difficulty

Start with Bellanoir, build a reusable player-damage shell, run Expeditions for slabs, and create one dependable Ice army for the late raids. Push Ultra variants only after the normal mechanics feel routine.
