The main takeaway
The new regions are the headline, but the deeper change is how progression, Pal investment, combat, exploration, and base automation now connect from the opening tutorial to the World Tree.
Quests, Watchtowers, Ancient Ruins, Pal Effigies, better dungeon rewards, and exploration XP make detours useful again.
Improved Work Pals, compact Ancient facilities, storage controls, Clinics, and water building create stronger production bases.
Awakening, Mutation, Partner Skill combinations, Work Suitability Level 10, and cheaper Condensing deepen long-term Pal builds.

World and story
Version 1.0 adds the regions players waited for while revising the original map, exploration rewards, settlements, and story route.
A vast floating-island region above Palpagos with its own civilization, new Pals, tower challenges, and resources that require specialized mining equipment.
The long-awaited World Tree is now the climax of Palworld's main story and its highest-level exploration route.
Pocketpair also revised the existing map so returning players have reasons to revisit familiar regions.
The three Sanctuaries are now full exploration areas instead of simple rare-Pal islands.
Pals and breeding
The update reduces repetitive catching and Condensing while adding deeper choices through Awakening, Mutation, new Cakes, Partner Skills, passives, and workplace investment.
Radiant Gems found in the World Tree can awaken favorite Pals and push them beyond earlier endgame limits.
Breeding can now produce mutated offspring with stronger stats and a unique passive, while new Cakes let you target different breeding outcomes.
More than 200 Partner Skills were added or changed, creating more useful team combinations and reducing duplicate stacking.
Every Pal was rebalanced around a ten-level Work Suitability scale, and each rank-up can improve workplace capability.
Progression and combat
The revised XP loop, Capture Bonuses, combat controls, Tower Bosses, weapons, accessories, and traversal tools reshape the full campaign.
The Capture Bonus now finishes after five captures instead of twelve, and maximum Condensing requires 48 Pals instead of 116.
Movement and weapon handling were rebuilt to make aiming, dodging, reloading, and Pal commands more responsive.
Tower arenas, visuals, skills, and tactics were reworked, while the time limit was shortened and boss stats were adjusted around the new pacing.
Version 1.0 adds the Wing Pack, Plasma Multicutter, Ancient armor, dozens of accessories, and a larger weapon loadout.
Bases and automation
Pocketpair improved worker behavior, storage, SAN support, fast travel, repair logic, construction pieces, and late-game production facilities.
The Aquatic Construction Kit opens shorelines, lakes, and open water to foundation placement and floating-base designs.
Compact late-game structures reduce station sprawl and let advanced bases combine more production in less space.
Hauling, storage, task return, and item collection were improved so production bases need less manual intervention.
Clinics and upgraded Monitoring Stands reduce SAN loss and suppress illness, while management controls received additional improvements.
Quality of life
Many of the most useful improvements are not headline systems. They remove the repeated clicks, unclear menus, and awkward travel that accumulated during Early Access.
Fresh start or old save
Pocketpair recommends a fresh character for the revised journey, but existing saves remain supported. The best choice depends on whether you value the new progression flow or preserving an established world.
Existing bases and Pals remain, but mission progress was revised, some objectives reset, Pal habitats moved, recipes changed, and old automation layouts may no longer be optimal. Remove old mods before loading the world.
