Rules that stay useful
Six principles behind every recommendation
Correct weapon first
Attack style, weapon speed, ammunition, spell system, and target defence usually matter more than a small armour upgrade.
Prayer counts as gear
Piety, Deadeye, Mystic Vigour, Rigour, and Augury can outperform expensive conventional equipment.
Check the breakpoint
A Strength or damage bonus is strongest when it adds a max hit. Accuracy still matters against tanky targets.
Keep useful sidegrades
Fury, Barrows gloves, tank sets, and low-switch gear can remain valuable after pure-DPS replacements are acquired.
Main and Ironman differ
Mains optimize cost and resale. Ironmen optimize quests, skill gates, supply sustainability, and content unlocked.
Start PvM earlier
Learning-ready equipment is enough. Mechanics and practice usually produce more progress than bankstanding for perfection.
Learning-ready
Enter and practice
Functional weapons, protection prayers, supplies, and a manageable switch count. Expect slower kills while learning mechanics.
Comfortable
Consistent clears
Major prayers, reliable weapons, better accessories, and enough sustain to recover from mistakes without overloading switches.
Efficient
Optimize the encounter
Content-specific specialists, special-attack plans, max-hit breakpoints, and enough mechanical experience to benefit from extra switches.

Gear works best when quests, levels, and mechanics keep pace
Use the combat guide for mechanics and training, the Ironman guide for self-sufficient milestones, and the quest order when an unlock is blocking your next equipment route.
