Release-safe preparation

The Deep North awaits

Prepare your world now without publishing guessed 1.0 stats. This page separates confirmed release information from values that must wait for the final build.

Officially confirmed

  • Valheim 1.0 releases on September 9, 2026.
  • The release focuses on the Deep North and also includes some content elsewhere in Valheim.
  • Existing saves remain usable, but new terrain content generates correctly only in previously unexplored areas.
  • Iron Gate recommends a fresh playthrough for the best experience, although players can continue an existing world.
  • There will not be a public test branch for 1.0 before release.

Locked until release

  • Exact routes, hazards, and environmental requirements
  • Resource names, locations, yields, and processing chains
  • Weapon, armor, food, and mead numbers
  • Creature resistances, starred drops, and spawn rules
  • Boss identity, summon cost, rewards, and Forsaken power
  • Building piece costs, support rules, and station levels

Preview footage can shape page layout and search intent, but it should not populate numeric database fields.

01 / Existing world checklist

Prepare without spoiling generation

The most important action is preserving unexplored northern territory. Iron Gate says fixed world content only generates properly in areas that have not already been explored, including a surrounding radius.

1

Back up world and character saves

Make a dated copy before the 1.0 client first opens the save. Keep the untouched backup until you are satisfied with the conversion.

2

Leave the far north unexplored

Previously explored terrain may not receive new fixed world content correctly. Avoid sailing close enough to generate northern zones before launch.

3

Stage a launch expedition

Prepare a Longship, portal materials, strong food, resistance meads, repair materials, arrows, backup gear, and an empty cargo plan.

4

Build a safe departure port

Use a northern-facing port outside the Deep North generation area, with storage and a paired recovery portal.

5

Record your current progression

Note defeated bosses, active powers, station levels, stocked metals, food tiers, and unexplored map borders before updating.

6

Review mods and achievement plans

Expect mods to need updates. If achievements matter, review Iron Gate's 1.0 rules before using devcommands, spawned items, or certain world modifiers.

02 / Reaching the biome

Plan the route, do not publish it yet

The Deep North occupies the far northern region of the world, but the final approach, hazards, landing conditions, and progression gates must be checked in the release build. Stage the expedition south of ungenerated terrain and leave the last leg unmapped.

The page is ready before the answers are

On September 9, the work becomes replacement and verification instead of a rushed redesign. The same records will feed items, recipes, gear, creatures, building, progression, and search.
