Craft a Torch with Rags
Combine a Short Stick or Long Stick with Rags to create an improvised Torch.
- Collect a Short Stick or Long Stick.
- Collect Rags.
- Combine the stick with the Rags.
- Select the Torch crafting action.
- Add more fuel or ignite the finished Torch.
Craft a Torch with Fat
A Short Stick or Long Stick can also be combined with Fat to create a Torch.
- Collect a Short Stick or Long Stick.
- Obtain Fat by skinning and quartering a suitable animal.
- Combine the stick with the Fat.
- Select the Torch crafting action.
- Ignite the finished Torch with a supported fire source.
Light a Torch
Ignite the Torch with a directly burning fire source or a supported fire-starting item.
- Place the Torch in your hands.
- Approach a lit Fireplace or another burning Torch, or equip a supported ignition source.
- Use Matches, a Road Flare, Petrol Lighter, Blowtorch, or Hand Drill Kit when available.
- Use the ignite action.
- Carry the burning Torch to illuminate the surrounding area.
Upgrade the Torch fuel
Combine the Torch with Fat or gasoline to significantly extend its fuel level. Only gasoline can raise it to the maximum.
- Place the Torch in your hands or inventory.
- Combine it with Fat or gasoline.
- Repeat the fuel action if more fuel is needed.
- Check the white Fuel bar beneath the Torch.
- Ignite it when ready, or upgrade it while it is already burning.
