Quick item summary
Quick answer
The Splint is a crafted medical item used after breaking a limb from a fall, gunshot, or other injury. Without treatment, walking on a broken limb causes shock damage and can make you go unconscious. A splint lets you move more safely while the fracture heals over time.
In-game description
“Primitive wooden Splint. Helps hold the broken bone in place, allowing for relatively painless movement. The leg itself will still take some time to heal though.”
Main Uses
- Treat a broken limb or fracture
- Stop constant shock damage while moving with a fracture
- Allow jogging with a broken limb
- Prevent going unconscious from moving on an untreated fracture
- Carry as emergency injury treatment during travel, combat, or climbing
- Craft from short sticks and binding materials like rags, bandages, duct tape, or shemagh
How to use this item
Apply after a fracture
Use a Splint when your survivor has a broken limb. The splint prevents constant shock damage from normal movement while the injury heals.
- Move to a safe place if possible.
- Put the Splint in your hands.
- Hold the apply action until it completes.
- Avoid sprinting and jumping while the splint is active.
- Wait for the fracture to heal over time.
Craft a Splint
Splints are crafted with 2 Short Sticks plus a binding material such as rags, a bandage, duct tape, or a shemagh.
- Collect 2 Short Sticks.
- Find a binding material.
- Combine the sticks with the binding material.
- Craft the Splint and keep it ready for broken-limb emergencies.
Move carefully after applying
A splint lets you jog without taking shock damage, but it does not fully restore movement. Sprinting and jumping are still prevented while the splint is applied.
