Featured Video
A useful campaign bossing reference covering many important story bosses, optional bonus bosses, and trial encounters with simple positioning tips.
Fight Fundamentals
Many PoE2 bosses punish panic rolling, bad resistance setup, and standing too far away from attacks that are easier to dodge up close.
Many large bosses have wide forward swings that are easier to avoid when you stand close and circle around them.
Rolling backward often keeps you inside long forward attacks. Against many bosses, rolling through them is safer.
Temporary rings or charms can make fire, lightning, cold, chaos, and poison-heavy fights much easier.
Most hard bosses have one or two attacks that actually kill you. Learn those first instead of trying to brute force the fight.
Before The Fight
Most boss walls become easier when you prepare for the specific fight instead of using the exact same gear setup everywhere.
Boss List
Early PoE2 bosses teach positioning, rolling through attacks, add control, and resistance swapping.
Watch For
Ice crystals and summoned wolves.
Fight Tip
Stay close, circle around her, and roll the repeated ice crystal attack.
Prep
Fire damage helps if your build has access to it.
Watch For
Burrow attacks, toxic slam, tail slam, and armored body.
Fight Tip
Stay near the body, circle the toxic head smash, and be ready for the tail when it resurfaces.
Prep
Cold damage and ground effects can help control the fight.
Watch For
Large chaos projectile and tentacle arms.
Fight Tip
Stay close so the chaos ball is easier to avoid, and destroy tentacles quickly.
Prep
Fire damage and area skills work well.
Watch For
Laser beam, summons, and hand slaps.
Fight Tip
Stay close and circle him. When adds spawn, roll out and funnel them in one direction.
Prep
Lightning damage helps. Clear the area before starting.
Watch For
Vine projectiles, slamming vines, and boulder attack.
Fight Tip
Wait for the opening teleport before committing ground damage. Keep moving during vine slams.
Watch For
Triple ground circles, teleporting attacks, and soul empowerment.
Fight Tip
Stay close, dodge through her flurry, and avoid the third circle because it hits much harder.
Prep
Catch or deny souls when possible so she does not empower.
Watch For
Four-hit combo, soul projectiles, and empowered attacks.
Fight Tip
Roll through the start of his combo and stay close to avoid the side damage from his slams.
Prep
Stop souls from empowering him if you can.
Watch For
Forward/backward rage slam and frost trails.
Fight Tip
When he says his rage line, move to the side instead of rolling backward. Kite briefly if frost covers the close area.
Watch For
Small arena slams and bell crush attacks.
Fight Tip
In the final phase, get behind him before the bell lands and punish him while the arena is small.
Reward Note
Useful permanent progression reward.
Watch For
Chaos bolts, ground effects, spike slam, and phase-two chaos orb.
Fight Tip
Fight at medium range, strafe the chaos bolts, and avoid getting rooted before the large chaos projectile.
Prep
Chaos resistance helps if available.
Reward Note
Permanent Spirit reward.
Watch For
Huge axe slam and falling execution tool.
Fight Tip
Stay close and move around him. His wide swings are much easier to avoid from close range.
Watch For
Mist phase, wolf charges, ice beams, and late-phase pressure.
Fight Tip
Walk through falling ice beams instead of panic rolling, roll every few seconds during mist charges, and burst him during dangerous late phases.
Prep
Cold resistance and movement speed help a lot.
Boss List
Act 2 bosses punish bad positioning harder and introduce more dangerous multi-phase mechanics.
Watch For
Hyena adds, arrow rain, and triple slash.
Fight Tip
Stay behind him and fight near the original arena area, not near the cliffs where arrows rain down.
Watch For
Grenade weapon swing that can one-shot.
Fight Tip
When she winds up the dangerous swing, roll into her instead of away from her.
Watch For
Dash slashes, feather collapse, invisibility, and poison gas.
Fight Tip
Find her quickly when she vanishes, avoid feather collapse, and use stun or burst windows when possible.
Prep
Good mobility and poison awareness help.
Watch For
Sword swings and overhead lightning hit.
Fight Tip
Roll through him, then time the overhead impact instead of rolling too early.
Watch For
Steed stuns, ground pounds, and magic effects.
Fight Tip
Keep both close together for cleave damage, stay behind the steed, and kill the Deathlord first if needed.
Watch For
Chaos damage, poison pressure, and red mist phase.
Fight Tip
Stay close for sword attacks, but run to the safe part of the pit when the red mist phase starts.
Prep
Chaos resistance or poison mitigation helps.
Watch For
Fire swings and flame bursts.
Fight Tip
Roll through him and stay behind him. Rolling away makes the fight harder.
Prep
Fire resistance helps but the fight is mostly positioning.
Watch For
Huge slashes, elbow slam, and fire split attack.
Fight Tip
Stay near the lower arm, but watch for the slow hand plant that creates dangerous fire splits.
Watch For
Forward and backward slams.
Fight Tip
Circle him closely. Most of his attacks are heavily telegraphed and can be avoided by walking.
Watch For
Lightning spears, crystals, cyclone/wind phase, lasers, and Ten Thousand Spears.
Fight Tip
Stay close when possible, use the protective dome during the storm phase, and immediately respect Ten Thousand Spears.
Prep
Lightning resistance and mana sustain help a lot.
Boss List
Act 3 bosses lean harder into resistance checks, arena pressure, chaos damage, and one-shot mechanics.
Watch For
Pillar slam that can one-shot.
Fight Tip
Activate the checkpoint first, stay close, and roll around his feet when the pillar slam comes.
Watch For
Heavy fire damage while mounted.
Fight Tip
Use fire resistance. One or two fire resistance rings can make the fight much easier.
Prep
Fire resistance is the main preparation.
Watch For
Frost breath and elemental attacks.
Fight Tip
Stay close so many attacks pass by you, but avoid the frost puke when it rears up.
Watch For
Slam, whirl, slam combo and fire axe attacks.
Fight Tip
Roll through him, not away. Run out when he breathes a circle of fire.
Watch For
Lasers, ground slams, and triangle ground marker.
Fight Tip
Walk through him when he aims forward attacks, but roll out of the triangle marker.
Watch For
Fast rolling attack, orange mushrooms, and ground sigil.
Fight Tip
Roll through her forward rush and do not stand in orange mushrooms or glowing ground effects.
Watch For
Falling sun stars, beam attacks, and burst phase.
Fight Tip
Run the falling stars instead of rolling them. Get behind him for the forward beam.
Watch For
Poison phases, spear lines, arena pressure, and chaos damage.
Fight Tip
Use chaos resistance or a poison charm, watch whether the spear collapse starts from top or bottom, and keep space after poison phase ends.
Prep
Chaos resistance and poison mitigation are very helpful.
Watch For
Lightning effects, red crystals, and machine phase pressure.
Fight Tip
Fight at medium range in phase one, avoid red crystals, then circle tightly during the machine phase.
Prep
Lightning resistance and good flask management help.
Boss List
Trials are less about one boss and more about surviving modifiers, rooms, traps, and resource pressure.
Watch For
Honor loss, afflictions, traps, and boss mechanics.
Fight Tip
Stack honor resistance where possible, avoid visual clutter, and prioritize safe rooms over greedy rewards.
Prep
Honor resistance relics can make the trial much easier.
Watch For
Random modifiers, dangerous bosses, and arena hazards.
Fight Tip
Choose modifiers carefully. Some combinations are worse than the boss itself.
Prep
Avoid boss damage / resistance penalties if your build is already fragile.
Mechanics
These patterns show up repeatedly across the campaign. Learning them once makes later bosses easier.
Some repeated falling attacks are safer to walk through than roll through. Rolling can get you hit by the next wave.
Many PoE2 bosses are built to punish backward rolls with long forward swings, beams, charges, or follow-up attacks.
Orange mushrooms, poison pools, chaos zones, frost trails, and glowing circles are often more dangerous than basic melee attacks.
A weak ring with the right resistance can be better than a stronger ring with no relevant defense for a specific boss.
Permanent Rewards
Some optional bosses and side objectives can reward permanent power such as Spirit, passive points, stats, or other campaign bonuses. If a boss icon looks important, check it before moving on.
