Field notes

Make every scavenging route count

Apogea rewards observation. Scavenging is most effective when it supports a clear cooking, trading, equipment, or expedition goal instead of filling your inventory without a plan.

Set an Objective

Decide what the trip should accomplish before leaving safety.

  • Choose between ingredients, equipment, saleable loot, or general supplies
  • Carry the tools required by the route
  • Leave enough capacity for the intended finds
  • Set a return point before entering unfamiliar terrain

Watch Your Capacity

Scavenging is limited by both inventory slots and carried weight.

  • Remove heavy low-value items before departure
  • Keep recovery supplies accessible
  • Do not let nested bags hide important tools
  • Turn back before capacity prevents valuable pickups

Record Search Areas

Personal notes turn discoveries into repeatable scavenging routes.

  • Record landmarks rather than relying only on memory
  • Note nearby enemies and safe retreat paths
  • Recheck locations after playtest updates
  • Separate verified routes from community rumors

Search for Ingredients

Prioritize ingredients that support meals you actually use.

  • Match ingredients to your class's sustain needs
  • Avoid collecting food that will expire unused
  • Combine recovered materials with vendor ingredients economically
  • Review the cooking guide before spending rare finds

Protect the Return

A full bag has no value if the expedition ends in an avoidable loss.

  • Bank valuable finds before extending the route
  • Keep food and recovery reserves for the journey back
  • Avoid unnecessary fights while heavily loaded
  • Use safe areas when sorting or combining items

Evaluate Each Find

Recovered loot can support equipment, food, trade, or future preparation.

  • Compare immediate sale value with future usefulness
  • Learn which traders accept common creature and material drops
  • Keep rare discoveries until their purpose is understood
  • Do not claim a fixed spawn until you have verified it repeatedly

Living-world record

This guide intentionally avoids promising fixed item locations. Loot availability and routes may change between Apogea playtests, so verify discoveries in the current build.
